User's Guide

by Ross Patterson last modified 2009-08-12 03:50 PM

A guide to Physical Planning and Construction, an attempt to clarify to campus clients the process of altering or building new facilities at UC Santa Cruz.

Physical Planning and Construction is the campus unit responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable building and life safety codes and public works contracting law, as well as maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the campus. PP&C provides all planning, design, and construction required to construct or alter facilities for the UC Santa Cruz campus as well as for Long Marine Laboratory, Mount Hamilton, Big Creek Reserve and Monterey Bay Education, Science and Technology (MBEST) Center, University Town Center, and 2300 Delaware Avenue. Any alterations to these facilities must be with the approval of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Physical Planning and Construction (Campus Architect) and must be accomplished under the supervision of PP&C personnel.

Our ambition in this User's Guide is to make it as easy as possible for you, our clients, to be an effective advocate for your unit in planning or building new or altered facilities. Understanding our system will help you achieve your objectives and avoid potential pitfalls before they become obstacles.
